Manager, Champion Disability Advocates
Judy is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the company’s Social Security disability income screening and enrollment services for both hospital referrals and direct-to-consumer clients.
Judy joined Champion Disability Advocates in 2005. Since then, she has helped grow Champion’s services from initial-level claim submissions for Michigan-based clients to all aspects of SSI and SSDI—including initial outreach and screening and all appeal stages—for clients across many states. In her role, she has also managed the development of the professional team to support these services, recruiting an expert team of specialists, interviewers, disability reviewers, filers and support staff. Her current focus is on managing the initial application process and all associates who support this process.
Prior to joining Champion, Judy worked three decades for the state of Michigan at its Lansing Disability Determination Service office, 23 years of which were in management and supervisory roles. As the state’s Lansing DDS Administrative Support and Operations Manager, she coordinated implementation of new Social Security program and policy changes; was a systems liaison with local, state and federal information technology staffs; participated in the development and operation of performance appraisal systems; and managed staff responsible for HR-related activities such as hiring and payroll. She also provided training and direction to Administrative Support Supervisors in the area of labor relations.
Judy has received numerous awards and recognition over the years for her management and leadership skills and professional innovation.
